How much fish do I get for one portion of fish?
We portion our fish by weight. One portion is roughly 100g of fish.
Do you cater for allergies or dietary requirements?
Yes, we have a few items that cater to certain dietary requirements. However bear in mind that in our kitchen, our main ingredient is flour (which contains gluten). Also bear in mind we do not have separate facilities or separate fryers to cook the food. Do you take reservations?
No, we do not take reservations. We are primarily a takeaway shop. We do have seating for up to 15 people in our shop. These are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Do you have bathroom facilities for the customers?
No, unfortunately not. The nearest public bathroom is at a nearby public park (Tahaki Reserve); this is roughly a two-minute walk from our shop.
Do you deliver?
We currently do deliveries via Ubereats at selected times. Check our details here.
Do you have disabled parking?
Yes, we have one disabled park at the car park at the back of the shop. This can be accessed via Esplanade Rd.
Do you have designated parking for your shop?
No, unfortunately not. We recommend parking on the public roads. We do not recommend you park at the car park at the back of our shop.
Do you use fresh fish?
Yes, we only use fresh fish for our fish and chips. The fish comes from NZ waters. We do not use frozen fish.
What fresh fish do you have for the day?
We currently serve three kinds of fresh fish at the moment; Tarakihi, Snapper, and Gurnard. Please check the online menu for availability.
Which fish is the freshest tasting or less fishy?
We only serve fresh fish from NZ waters. Fresh fish shouldn’t taste fishy. For most people, we recommend Snapper for its mild taste and moist delicate texture. Otherwise, most of the other fresh fish we serve is also very appetising.
How long does it take to cook my food?
This depends on your order. Usually, it should take about 10-15 mins. Our peak hours are usually around 5 pm – 7 pm. We recommend either ordering online or making a phone order to avoid a long wait at our shop.
I caught some fish out at sea, are you able to skin/bone/fillet it for me?
No, we do not offer these services. We prefer to focus on our fish and chips so that we can deliver the best possible fish and chips experience for you.
Do you serve lemon wedges with your fish and chips?
Yes, we serve complimentary lemon wedges with our fish and chips. This is only available when New Zealand lemons are in season; which is usually around winter.
What oil do you use?
We use high-oleic sunflower oil and Bakel’s Chef Royale in our deep fryers. We use only high-oleic sunflower oil on our grills.
Do you sell wet/raw fish?
No, we do not sell wet/raw fish. We prefer to focus on our fish and chips so that we can deliver the best possible fish and chips experience for you.
Do you do beer batter?
We currently only do beer batter on special occasions e.g. St Patrick’s Day. The best way to keep informed is to follow us on our social media.
